The Challenge

With many other fast-casual salad restaurants in the space, especially already established brands such as Lemonade and Sweetgreen, there is a lot of competition. Mixt was faced with either being too similar to the existing market or taking a risk away from its initial brand strategy. Furthermore, the expansion to Yerba Buena (YB) was difficult to pitch to media, as significant differentiation was necessary to tell a great story.

The Solution

Positioning and differentiating Mixt as a healthy, lifestyle salad brand with a commitment to sustainability, local, and a strong team culture. The expansion to YB was key to product differentiation with the introduction of exclusive YB-only dinner options, including herb roasted free range chicken and grilled grass fed flat iron steak from the Mixt Market Plates menu. We facilitated the opening of the 10th opening of Mixt by developing photography and video assets, growing their Instagram following extensively, and engaging with a total of 80 press and influencers. Those invited to Mixt YB's grand opening included food bloggers, food Instagram influencers, local broadcasts, local newspapers, local prints, national blogs, and trade.
